Miami – cruise capital of the world, home to numerous beaches, a place where you can get amazing cuban coffee… well you get the idea by now! But, did you know that Miami is also home to some yummy vegetarian food? We took a three-day weekend trip to Miami, just to check out the food scene and also drove down to Key West to enjoy the sunshine in the southern-most point of the country.
In case you haven’t figured this out already, we always plan our trip around food, and this trip was no different! Right from the time we landed in Miami, we were keen to check off our ‘mi-yummy’ list of places we had in mind. Whether you are a vegetarian or a vegan, both Miami and Key West has plenty of options for you!
In this post, we are sharing some of the best vegetarian restaurants to check out in the Miami and Key West area.
Fair word of caution: Miami has a law that allows restaurants to add 18 percent automatic gratuity to your bill.
1800-Lucky Asian Food Hall
1800-Lucky is a one-stop-shop for all your Asian food cravings in Miami. They have seven restaurants serving Asian food in the Wynwood area of Miami. They also have a full bar, indoor-outdoor seating, live music, and even a Karaoke room! It was our first stop, and we enjoyed a variety of Asian food from multiple restaurants that we have listed below:
Usagi Tokyo Ramen
Part of the 1-800-Lucky Asian Food Hall, this vegetarian ramen made with soy broth, sesame paste, topped with chili oil will knock your socks off. So tasty and flavorful that we slurped it down in no time! Highly recommend pairing this ramen with some sake or Kirin Ichiban malt beer.
Yip Miami
Yip Miami is a speciality dim sum food stall at the 1-800-Lucky Asian Food Hall, and they have the perfect veggie dumplings to start off your meal.
Time Out Market
Time Out Market is touted as THE destination for food in Miami, and we see why! This 17,000 sq. ft. fancy food market is home to 17 restaurants and 3 bars. There’s food, entertainment, and great drinks. We must admit that we thoroughly enjoyed the drinks here!
Some of the places we tried at the Time Out Market include:
Ms. Cheezious
Grilled cheese is comfort food for us, and Ms. Cheezious is a great spot for gourmet grilled cheese in Time Out Market. We got the pesto melt, and it was the besto!

Love Life Cafe
This plant-based spot promotes self love by offering healthy eats! They have a wide variety of vegan dishes, and we settled for the Love Life Arepa, a homemade chlorophyll-infused, spinach arepa with black bean sofrito, avocado, and cilantro aioli sauce. The arepa was VERY different from what we have tasted so far, and the filling was so well-seasoned. It came with herb “fries”, and made for a perfectly balanced meal for lunch.
After a meal at Time Out Market, take a stroll along Lincoln Road or Ocean Drive, both very good options to walk off all the food!
Charly’s Vegan Taco (CVT)
Nestled between the murals of Wynwood, CVT is THE place for best vegan tacos in the Miami area. If we had to pick our most favorite restaurant from this trip, it would definitely be this colorful spot! The food, although a tad pricey, was extremely delicious. The tacos are made in-house, and the meat substitutes such as seitan, soy, yuba and jackfruit are all flavored with so much finesse. Pair your tacos with some margaritas, and spicy peanut crusted eloté, and you got yourself a complete meal.

Santiago’s Bodega, Key West
We took a quick day trip to Key West, and stopped for lunch at the local crowd favorite – Santiago’s Bodega, a lovely tapas place with a lot of character. We kicked off our meal with a couple of sangrias, as all tapas meals are meant to, and shared various small plates. This place has a separate vegetarian menu, so don’t forget to ask for it! We got the saganaki, patatas bravas, mini quesadillas, and portobello-mushroom filled puff pastry. Needless to say, we were stuffed!

Holy Guacamole stand at Mallory Square
One of the must do things when visiting Key West is to head to Mallory Square to watch the sunset. An everyday celebration encompasses the work of local artists on display, jaw-dropping stunts and performances from musicians and street artists, and ofcourse food! The celebrations start a couple of hours before sunset, and grabbing some guac from the Holy Guacamole food cart is a perfect accompaniment for the sunset watch. The guac is prepared fresh and served with crunchy tortilla chips.
